We stayed at the lower floor (Park Suite) which is facing very close to the old residential building. So we had to close curtains and blinds all days. The room size is great with dining table, sofa, kitchen and TVs. It is good if you want to have a short gathering with friends. The building has two lifts and pretty fast all time. The service apartment is in the middle of two MTR stations, Tin Hau and Fortress Hills. There is also no waiting area for taxi, so you must be going down before calling taxi. A public toilet and refuse collection point are just next to the building, but hygiene is good overall in that area. There are many restaurants nearby.

The location is a big plus—right near the A11 airport bus station, which made getting to and from the airport a breeze. It’s also close to a tram station, so exploring the city was convenient. The MTR station is about a 10-minute walk. The room itself stood out for Hong Kong standards—spacious with a separate bedroom and living area, which gave it a comfortable, homey feel. Cleanliness was decent, nothing exceptional but acceptable. One downside for me was the pillow—it was too soft for my liking, which affected my sleep a bit. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you value space and easy access to public transport!

Avoid The Mercury: A Long-Term Resident’s Warning After 2.5 years at The Mercury, I can say with absolute certainty that this property is plagued by fundamental flaws that management refuses to address. If you value your health, peace, and basic living standards, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Major Problems That Made My Stay Miserable 1. Zero Soundproofing—Prepare for Endless Noise The walls are paper-thin. Every conversation, slammed door, and footstep from your neighbors will become your problem. Sleep is a luxury here; I was woken up almost nightly by noise from adjacent units. If you expect any rest, you will be sorely disappointed. 2. Staff Are Dismissive and Uncaring The staff’s attitude is appalling. Complaints about noise and other serious issues are routinely brushed off or blamed on residents for being “too sensitive.” The only time staff responded was when I threatened to escalate to authorities. Don’t expect help or empathy—just indifference and excuses. 3. Persistent, Unbearable Sewage Odor A foul sewage stench invades the bathroom almost every afternoon. Management’s only response is to blame the nearby garbage center or claim the pipes are being cleaned—yet the smell never goes away. This is a chronic, unresolved hygiene issue that makes daily life unpleasant. 4. Severe Pest Infestation Cockroaches, spiders, and other insects are a constant problem, especially after rain or typhoons. The proximity to the garbage center only makes things worse. If you’re squeamish or expect a clean environment, you will be shocked by the lack of pest control. 5. Overcrowded, Poorly Managed Laundry The laundry facilities are a nightmare. Machines are always occupied, and if you’re not there the moment your cycle ends, staff will dump your clothes into plastic bags—completely unsanitary and stressful. 6. Misleading and Useless Kitchen Facilities The so-called “kitchen” is a joke. There’s no exhaust fan, no windows, and the smoke detector is so sensitive it’s impossible to cook without setting off alarms. Don’t expect to prepare meals here. 7. Inconsistent and Unhygienic Housekeeping Housekeeping is unreliable and corners are constantly cut. I witnessed staff using guest towels to clean bathrooms. Dust accumulates everywhere, and unless you specifically request it, areas like under cupboards or on top of TVs are ignored. Health Impact and Overall Neglect The combination of poor ventilation, relentless noise, and dust led to a noticeable decline in my health over time. Management shows no willingness to resolve these issues, despite repeated complaints from multiple residents. Don’t Be Fooled by Location or Initial Impressions While the location is convenient, it’s not worth sacrificing your well-being. The Mercury’s chronic problems far outweigh any superficial benefits. The positive reviews you see are either from short-term guests who haven’t experienced the ongoing issues, or they ignore the persistent problems that long-term residents cannot escape. Final Verdict: Stay Away My experience at The Mercury has been overwhelmingly negative. The building is poorly constructed, staff are unhelpful, and basic hygiene and comfort are consistently neglected. I strongly urge anyone considering this property—especially for a long-term stay—to look elsewhere. You will regret choosing The Mercury.
