The Metropole Hotel Cork

I normally do not post reviews for hotels but the Staff here was super friendly and inviting. The breakfasts were amazing. As an American who loves their A/C I was a little worried they don't have it but with the windows opening and a fan it was quite pleasant in the room. It is located in a great spot within walking distance of the trains and buses and plenty of food and shopping areas. I would definitely stay here again if I am ever back in Cork.

The hotel has a good central location. There were several restaurants within close proximity, and the hotel’s restaurant is also worth mentioning. Iced tea is not common in Ireland, but our server went out of his way to make a delicious glass of iced tea. The rooms were clean and spacious with comfy beds. Ireland was experiencing a heat wave, and unfortunately our rooms didn’t have AC; but they did provide a table fan. The staff was friendly and very accommodating for our large conference group. We had a room that faced the alley; so it occasionally got a bit noisy at night. My friends and I kept commenting about how pretty the hotel was. The most standout thing for me, was the staff. Highly recommend.

Location was excellent. But that's about all I can say in a positive light. We were in a room on floor 3, no visibility out the window that opened up one inch. . The shower was limp. You could rinse under it. There was no food available after 9:30, room service or otherwise. The room smelled musty when we arrived. For the price, would not recommend. A hostel would surely offer better value. I also really did not appreciate being hounded by repeated emails to update my payment method even though the booking was free cancellation till a few days before arrival. I also did not like the regular prompts to check-in and provide personal info prior to arrival. Poor service overall. This is management at fault. Staff we have met have been lovely. That can't go unsaid.
