We stopped last minute without a reservation and had the luck of being able to have a room here on a Friday night. First, it is a beautiful historic hotel with interesting features. The room was large and comfortable. We stayed in a 3rd floor balcony room overlooking the pool. We ate at two restaurants enjoying the outdoor seating and great eats. Stephan and Arturo- great service! We were treated well at the valet service and America at the front desk was incredibly helpful and welcoming in finding us a last minute room. I loved our one night and we hope to come back again.

We visited the Mission Inn Hotel in Riverside and were absolutely captivated by its architecture and charm. Every corner of the hotel feels like stepping into a different era — from the intricate tilework and grand archways to the Spanish-Moorish details that give the building such a unique character. We had dinner in the enchanting courtyard, surrounded by palm trees, twinkling lights, and historic stone walls. A magical and memorable experience!

Being a historical building it has its quirks, nothing too negative though. Winding staircases and unusual paths to get to your unique room are part of the charm. I noticed some small things like water stains above the bathroom door and on the ceiling, broken wood on the bathroom window and chips but they may need to be like that until they can be restored per historical guidelines. I'm not sure. The History Inn The Makio tour was interesting to learn about the eccentric original builder of the Inn. Every step of the way was exceptional service by those who seem to like working there. The bed in our room was rather tall, making it a small but difficult for my 5'3 self to get up there. Pillows were plush and squishy and the bedcover was warm. The chair was a little uncomfortable but the bench was convenient at the foot of the bed. I just wish had more light options in the room we were in, was rather dark at night even with everything on. More mood lighting than bright. Despite the rumors we did not have any paranormal activity during our stay AC worked well and not noisy at all. Unfortunately it seems, the only spooky thing is something decided to snack on my legs in the night.
