The Mount Somerset

A Friday to Sunday stay in a comfortable, beautifully appointed country house within a peaceful, quiet flower filled garden. Swaying gently on the wooden bench, mesmerised by the gentle breeze rustling the weeping willow leaves, watching Blackbirds hopping across the lawn and hearing Greenfinches singing in the trees was totally relaxing. Delicious food served by friendly and attentive staff, excitement provided by seeing a Peacocks flying down from the roof chasing the Guinea Fowl and Fergie, the friendly and welcoming liver-coloured Cocker Spaniel, chasing the Peacock - and finding two large breakfast duck eggs freshly laid in the grass. Total bliss!!

We wanted a classy hotel with parking and great food and bev and saw Farthings online. Its nicely off the beaten track in a small village and it is a real hidden gem. We received a lovely warm welcome and were give the key a lovely airy room at the front of the house. A few g&t's later we were ordering from an extensive menu where the chef was truly showing his talent, great food and a great recommend on the wine to match! I quite understand why people simply go there to eat as it was just fabulous. In the morning a big tasty breakfast to start the day! I really recommend Farthings if like us you are in the area and need a night or two stop over and some quality food and drink. Well done guys- we will be back, soonest.

A really lovely stay. The house felt like something from Jane Austin, but with every modern convenience. All very comfortable. Would revisit tomorrow.
