We had our wedding ceremony at The Mudcastle on 1 March and our families stayed together in the castle for three nights. Such a special place with incredible ambiance and creativity in every room! We loved the outdoor ceremony venue and the various locations for getting ready and taking awesome photographs on the day. Glenys was very accommodating and communicative. Thank you for a wonderful day!
We had our wedding at The Mudcastle and stayed over both the night before and night of the wedding, along with our bridal party. The hosts Glenys and Kevin are extremely hospitable and welcoming. They really go the extra mile to ensure everyone is happy and everything goes smoothly. Great communication from the get go, gave us help with suggestions for our wedding planning and came through to save the day a few times at the last minute! The venue itself is beautifully crafted out of golden Nelson clay and structured with a strongly castle inspired theme. The inside has a lot of character with various ornaments and furniture collected over the years. The location is great if you want somewhere a little remote, particularly good for a wedding as you can be sure you wont be interrupted by unwanted uninvited guests. It's also set on a hill with great views of the forest around and lots of native birds flitting about in the outdoor areas. There are lots of different little areas for guests to explore and find charming unexpected details. We'd highly recommend The Mudcastle as a venue for any event or stay. The hosts make you feel at home and the rooms are unique with comfy beds and bedding. There is also plenty of parking availability on site. Thanks for a beautiful wedding and a great trip, we'll no doubt be back some day!
The pink room has the least desirable view out of all the rooms. The room was very muggy which made it hard to sleep. There is no air conditioning. The venue as a whole was ok. There's an odd smell about the place. It's fun to look around and see all the 'weird' that went into building it. The fountain/pool wasn't working.
