We had an amazing stay! The hotel is about 8 km from the center of Ubud – it took us around 1.5 hours to walk, which we actually enjoyed, but it might not be ideal for those who don’t like walking. The area is super peaceful and quiet, and you get a real feel for local life. The best part was the staff – especially Nada! Always happy, kind, and incredibly helpful. 5 stars just for him!
The Mudru is more like a villa rather than a resort. It is missliding to mention resort when you're that small. The property is beautiful nonetheless. We loved the pool and the greenery around it. The location was ok, a bit far from the commercial center of Ubud, but we ordered Gojek or Grab easily. The laundry services were good. The property is beautiful and the room design is nice, but since it's a relatively new property, I was expecting better maintained rooms, bathroom. The staff were very nice and willing to solve or help anything, and we thank them for it, but it needs more quality services. What we didn't like: The bedsheets and towels were stained, and sometimes, they were not smelling well. We asked for new ones, they gave us others, and they were also stained, every single time they brought some, we realized that they probably just wash them with cold water as normal laundry. We gave up on asking, as we realized that, they don't understand how to be in the hospitality, they dont know how to saniteze them properly to boil them to remove any potential germ...or wash them at high temperature, or bleach them... I was scared to check the mattress... which was very uncomfortable, we had back pain and we were feeling more tired than when we arrived. We didn't rest well at all, and we stayed a 1 week. All the rooms smelled bad, like mold, damp, musty, also the bathroom smelled in all the roooms, as we asked to change our room when we arrived, and we checked them all.... they all smelled bad, so we had no choice but to burn incense and deal with it, but we did have allergies, and we would wake up with blocked nose, sneezing, red ayes every day. The bathroom in all rooms didn't seem cleaned properly, the shower, the glass of it, the sink and around... The breakfast food was ok... however, anything else from the menu was mediocre in terms of quality. The internet connection was not stable most times. The pool seemed great, we didn't use it, also because the sunbeds were left in the rain most times, and they smelled horrible. A lot to improve in the cleaningness of the rooms.
Our stay at Mudru was overall a pleasant one. The rooms are spacious, and the staff—especially the male team members—was incredibly warm and went out of his way to ensure we had a memorable experience. Unfortunately, the female receptionist didn’t reflect the same Balinese hospitality and came across as less accommodating. There are a few areas for improvement: Massage experience – While we enjoyed the massage itself, the setting wasn’t ideal. The room is located right next to the guest rooms, and our session was interrupted by the loud hum of what sounded like a generator and people speaking loudly outside. Breakfast – This was underwhelming, especially since the listing mentioned a “great breakfast included.” The set menu offers 5 options with 2 being vegetarian and healthier options: Continental: Pancakes, bread, fruit, and juice Balinese: Fried rice or noodles, fruit, and a banana dessert American: Two eggs, a small sausage, three baby potatoes, a slice of tomato, a strip of bacon, bread, and juice or fruit While it’s a decent variety, the portions left us still feeling hungry. Towels – These could be refreshed. Some had visible tears and makeup stains. While we understand that certain stains can be tough to remove, it does raise concerns about cleanliness and hygiene. Accessibility – It’s worth noting that there’s a flight of stairs you’ll need to climb to reach the resort from the main road. This might be challenging for guests with mobility concerns or heavy luggage. That said, everything else was good. However, this seems to be a recurring pattern with resorts under the Pramana brand. Whether it’s a cost-cutting measure or just inconsistent service, it feels like corners are being cut in several areas. Based on this experience, I’m not sure I’d stay at a Pramana property again.
