We’ve done a lot of beach travel throughout Mexico and the Caribbean, and this was our first time in the Dominican Republic—it absolutely delivered. The Ocean Club Costa Norte is a hidden gem. Tucked away in a quiet part of Sosúa, it feels like a total oasis—peaceful, secluded, and really beautiful. The staff was incredible—some of the friendliest and most helpful people we’ve encountered anywhere. You can tell they genuinely care and want you to have a great time. The beach is gorgeous, the water is warm and clear, and there are plenty of options for relaxing or exploring. We especially loved the saltwater pools—there are several to choose from, and each has its own vibe. The food was excellent—fresh, well-prepared, and consistently great. Same goes for the drinks. Rooms are spacious, super comfortable, and most have amazing ocean views. One of the highlights for us was the Veuve Clicquot Sun Club—a fun, slightly elevated part of the resort that added some variety and a cool atmosphere. It’s not the easiest place to get to, but honestly, it’s more than worth the effort. You just don’t find staff this good, people this friendly, or a resort experience this well-rounded very often. Highly, highly recommend. We usually like to try new places when we take a beach trip, but this one is going to be an exception—we’ll definitely be coming back.

Hotel really should not be in the Marriott luxury line up. It’s a really nice resort on the surface, but a few hours after arriving you really see the issues. Service is slooooow. They got almost every order incorrect. Rooms are large and nicely appointed but our room smelled of mold so bad. Front desk staff is really friendly and responsive but the rest of the staff does appear to be trained properly. There was staff everywhere looking so bored, standing around on their phones all day not really doing anything. Food and drink is remarkably overpriced and not that great. Hotel seemed empty of guests. We probably only saw 5-10 other guests the entire stay. I would not recommend

We were really looking forward to try this hotel but unfortunately our experience fell way short to our expectations. This hotel is marketed as a “Luxury Collection Hotel “ but is no where near being luxury or high quality service. For the price point after spending 3 days in the hotel we left feeling disappointed. The rooms are OK but the hotels grounds are run down and dirty. The furniture, pools are all dirty and old. I was scared our kids could catch something. The food was Inedible and overpriced. The service was tragic. We had to go out of the hotel to eat a decent meal. Twice they brought us the wrong car and couldn’t tell which one was our key! Honestly we are surprised this is a Marriott property. We would NOT recommend this at all. There are way too many great luxury options in the DR to spend your money here.
