From the moment we checked in to the day we regretfully had to check out, our stay at The Okura was a true luxury experience! We arrived in the middle of a downpour, exhausted and jet-lagged, and the minute our taxi pulled up to the building our bags were taken and delivered to our room while we were greeted with hospitality and care by the lobby staff. The staff are the true treasure at the Okura — every detail was carefully thought out and prepared for our arrival. We ordered room service that was delivered promptly and was incredibly delicious. As we enjoyed our stay in Tokyo, we looked forward to returning to the Okura each evening. Our room had an astounding view over the Tokyo skyline and at night the scene was truly mesmerizing. We loved the shower room which featured a deep tub and a floor to ceiling window. Soaking in a bath after a long day of walking and watching a storm roll past was nothing short of magical. The only small downside was the general location, as we had to walk about ten minutes to reach the nearest Metro station. The Okura also hosts offices and has a strong business presence, so families with younger children may want to look elsewhere if they have concerns about distance between popular sights and hotel locations. The lobby was a work of art in itself and I loved coming back in the afternoon to sit in a comfortable chair and people-watch. Truly one of the most iconic buildings in Tokyo. Thank you very much to the staff at the Okura for making our stay a delightful experience. We will be back!
I stayed at many high-end hotels in my life. The Okura Tokyo however, where we stayed at during our recent trip to Japan, is in a league of its own. At the Heritage wing, the attention to detail is off the charts. Not just the rooms but the entire property, together with its unique 2.6 hectare garden. The simple yet sophisticated architecture and lighting makes your stay special. On first day, a front-desk clerk accompanied us to our room to give us a 10-minute introduction to all things inside the room. Staff, in general, was very amenable and helpful and the dinner experience at their different restaurants, superior. Everything, from the temperature of the room to the beds and pillows, the sauna incorporated inside the bathroom with its own jacuzzi was top of the top. I loved Japan and will greatly miss The Okura Tokyo and the morning walks throughout Toranomon Hills and its surroundings.
The Okura is a hotel amongst hotels. I've stayed in 5 star hotels around the world. The Okura is beautiful inside and out. The staff is over the top amazing, from bell hops, concierge, wait staff on the dining areas, room service, all are excellent. Our room was beautiful and spacious with huge windows to see the city. All the windows had motorized shade and curtains. There were controls near the bed so you don't have to get out of bed to control the curtains or lights. Room service came twice a day to clean the room. The service is just outstanding, surpasses many hotels.
