A Truly Special Stay – Beautiful Hotel, Wonderful Staff Our stay at The Old Hall was an absolute delight from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly polite, friendly, and helpful – nothing was too much trouble. The building is full of charm, beautifully furnished throughout, and the grounds are landscaped to perfection. It was a joy to explore and relax in the peaceful surroundings. There are plenty of comfortable seating areas to unwind, and our room was elegantly decorated, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable. The location is also ideal – with easy access to Ely, Cambridge, and London, it’s perfect for a countryside getaway with great connections. We would highly recommend The Old Hall and look forward to staying again!
Stunning place, beautiful room, complete with a comfy bed and a lovely clawfoot bathtub! Sophie was extremely welcoming and helpful, arranging us taxis to town to visit the cathedral and go out for lunch. The breakfast was great too! Only slight downside was that we had to get taxis as it was a little bit out of town. But the taxi drivers were all very kind and it wasn't expensive! There's plenty of parking at the property so for people who drive this isn't an issue at all.
A charming hotel that blends historic character with modern touches. While clearly geared towards the wedding business, it also serves as a great base for exploring Ely and the surrounding area. The room was comfortable, though the amenities could be improved. Toiletries were minimal, and we had to request a kettle for making tea. The large coffee machine looked impressive but wasn’t very practical—some instant coffee sachets would have been a helpful addition. It’s worth noting that the restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays—a detail that is clearly stated on their website, though I unfortunately missed it. This was a shame, as a local taxi driver spoke very highly of the cuisine and its value. Breakfast ends at 9am, which feels a little early for those on holiday hoping for a more leisurely start to the day. Despite a few minor niggles, the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, this remains one of the best options for visitors wanting to explore Ely, especially the magnificent cathedral.
