Fantastic hotel in Fowey. Staff were brilliant. Cleaners did a great job in rooms every day. Rooms were extremely comfortable with lovely products to use. Breakfasts were delicious. No parking and it's a narrow lane to drive down. Recommended buying a weekly rover parking ticket from council. There are 3 carparks you can use it in at Fowey, plus others in Cornwall.
Just popped in this evening for dinner, Was great to get away from my home Village of Mevagissey for a change of scenery. I had heard the food was good and to a high standard and was definitely not disappointed, The steak was superb, and my partner’s fish was exquisite and the desserts were something in themselves very special. My partner being Brazilian enjoyed chatting to the Portuguese manager and also a Portuguese waiter, which was an added bonus. Nearly Forgot to add the cocktails were also a great surprise. We will definitely be coming again and would recommend this to locals and travellers alike.
We visited on the first night of our honeymoon as we wanted to eat at a restaurant that had good reviews and a nice view. We left a note on the booking to say it was our honeymoon and we would love a table with a nice view, on arrival the waiter directed us to a table next to the bar, no view, the restaurant was practically empty, so we asked to sit in the window and he moved us there. We ordered our drinks and food which came very quickly, and compliments to the chef on such beautiful food, the food was fantastic. We received no service from the waiters once our food and drinks had arrived, not once we're we asked if everything was OK, if we needed anything, there were no condiments so we had to go and find them to ask. We didn't see a waiter since our initial order and carrying our plates over. When the bill arrived we asked for the £12 discretionary service charge to be removed, but left a tip of £7 which i hope all goes to the chef. When we asked to removed the charge, the waiters were very rude, almost like we weren't allowed to take the charge off, we were humiliated and questioned infront of the restaurant as to why we were taking it off, so we left. As we were walking out, the waiters were laughing and making comments about only getting a £7 tip. I believe you tip for the service you receive, and in this instance we didn't receive any service, which we found very poor and disappointing. We've had better service from our local pub whilst eating a meal, very shocking for a fine dining restaurant.
