The Club hosted an amazing function for our local Golf Society. What an amazing place, the venue was immaculate, the food was amazing, and the staff went over and above to ensure all guest were comfortable and catered for. 100% recommend for the golf, function venue and hospitality. Positive feedback was received from all guests who attended. Exceptional. Thank you.
Solid Day Out – Not Perfect, But Certainly Enjoyable All in all, we had an enjoyable round of golf here. While I’ve heard the occasional horror story about the spa facilities, this review is purely about the golf—and from that standpoint, it delivered a good experience. The course was tidy and well presented, with a layout that offers enough challenge to keep things interesting without being overly punishing. The greens ran true at a medium pace—nothing lightning quick, but reliable enough to reward a confident putt. The whole setup gives off a premium feel: from the clubhouse to the signage, it looks the part. But scratch just beneath the surface and you begin to see why it doesn’t quite land in the same category as the UK’s true elite venues. There’s a sense that everything is almost there, but just lacking that extra layer of refinement you’d expect at a place like The Belfry or Woburn. That said, a 3 out of 5 star rating isn’t a criticism—it’s still above average, and certainly fair for what was a thoroughly pleasant round. We played in the spring, and I’d imagine summer conditions would only enhance the experience. If you catch it on a good-weather day, you won’t be disappointed. The par 3s stood out as a real highlight—thoughtful, well-designed, and fun to play. For the price, it was excellent value and a great day out. No, it’s not quite in the same league as the top-tier names—but then again, very few courses are. DO NOT BOOK SPA DAY HERE!!!!!!!!! Absolutely terrible, as others have said, it’s incredibly run down and dirty. We were gifted the violet package and were really looking forward to a relaxing day but our time was far from that! After complaining about our experience, they felt it was reasonable to offer us 20% off another treatment as a gesture, which is absolutely laughable as there is no chance we will return let alone spend MORE money somewhere that really isn’t worth it! So disappointing - if you’re looking for a spa day in Oxfordshire, go elsewhere! For some more context of our experience: Changing rooms filthy, we actually felt unclean being in there and couldn’t wait to use our own showers at home. Pool facilities again, very run down, the covers on all the chairs are dirty, hanging on by a thread and need replacing. We had some treatments booked, whilst my partner was having his first I was hoping to relax in and around the pool with a book BUT there was an elderly water aerobics class going on at this time, with a woman shouting and playing music loudly. So I had to sit out in the reception area as it was the only quiet spot. I’m not sure how they think it’s acceptable for classes to go on when people have paid for a relaxing spa day or weekend. The treatments themselves were poor. I understand spa massages are not like the usual sports massages I enjoy to receive, but usually you still feel somewhat relaxed. There was absolutely 0 pressure applied by our beauty therapist and not even the classic ‘how’s the pressure?’ line to ensure we were enjoying the experience. Retraining is needed. Although the staff were nice, there was no attention to detail or urgency to ensure we were having a special experience. Even after mentioning the class was going on and it was hardly relaxing I got no response, or apology. We did have food included in our package from a set menu. The menu was limited and I am not usually a fussy eater, but the options were poor so I had to pay a surcharge to change the mackerel salad to a chicken salad. I obviously HAD to do this to ensure I would enjoy my lunch, but I think I would get more chicken in a £3 pack from Tesco. That being said, aside from again the restaurant needing a revamp with flies in the room and dirty carpet, the food was the nicest part of the experience. Don’t be deceived like we were with the ratings being reasonably good on Google… I believe these are mainly for the Golfing experience here NOT the Spa! Very upsetting.
