The Palmetto Hotel

We were being tourists in our own town, and had the best experience at this hotel. Location. Location. Location. Excellent atmosphere and service from the moment we walked in. Our room had a balcony (it's more like a ledge, but still counts)! Thanks for a great little getaway from the same old same old.

My wife and I stayed at The Palmetto for our honeymoon in Charleston and wow—10/10, no notes. We’ll absolutely be back. From the moment we arrived (a bit early), the staff set the tone with warm Southern hospitality. They offered to store our bags, handed us welcome drinks, and told us they’d been looking forward to our arrival—turns out they had a special note in the system that we were honeymooners. A lovely touch! After exploring the neighborhood for a bit, we got a call that our room was ready—and that’s when the magic really kicked in. The Palmetto is perfect for anyone who craves boutique luxury with a homey, intimate vibe. It’s small in the best way—private, quiet, but still right in the heart of Charleston. You’re walking distance to the French Quarter, steps from one of the best bakeries in town, and close to King Street without the chaos. Our room? Gorgeous. Warm, beautifully designed, and way more spacious than we expected. My wife brought half her closet (rightfully so—it was the honeymoon!), and we still had room to breathe. That cozy little couch at the end of the bed? We actually used it constantly to relax and decompress. The bathroom was another highlight—huge shower, dreamy water pressure, and luxe finishes. And the bed? Chef’s kiss. So comfortable we almost skipped breakfast to stay wrapped up in it. But speaking of breakfast—you don’t want to skip it. Every morning downstairs we were greeted with a delicious complimentary spread: creamy grits with all the toppings, biscuits and gravy, parfaits, hard-boiled eggs, and legit good coffee. It hit the spot every time. Shoutout to the excellent lobby bar, where my wife became best friends with their espresso martinis. I’m more of an old fashioned guy, and they nailed those too. When we weren’t drinking, they made us refreshing “fancy water” with citrus and mint that hit just right after a long day of walking. Every bartender we met was friendly, skilled, and just plain cool. Bottom line: The Palmetto has everything—style, comfort, vibes, location, service. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want to treat yourself, this hotel is it.

Definitely recommend The Palmetto! Spotless, updated rooms, and excellent customer service. The best cocktails at the bar. Graham was wonderful! All of the staff were extremely professional, warm and friendly. The location can't be beat - right in the heart of downtown close to shopping, restaurants, and walkable to the pier. There is also a garage right behind for convenient parking. Will be coming back!
