The Pema by Realm

Whether you're on holiday or travelling for business, The Pema is an impeccable choice in terms of service, comfort, and privacy. From the warm and affable greeting on arrival, to the thoughtful gifts and choice of toiletries in the room (from meaningful and sustainable small businesses in Bhutan and Thailand), I felt they paid good attention to detail at this establishment. All the staff were helpful, well trained, and friendly. The room was well-sized, with a very comfortable bed and luxurious bathroom fittings. I was jetlagged from a prior work trip and managed to get a proper rest during my two nights here. Some commenters said the street dogs bark through the night, but this was not a problem for me (really not that much barking, and it sounded far off). I highly recommend the massage with the singing bowls! It was top notch-- unique, utterly relaxing, and the masseuse was very kind and skillful. Dinner and breakfast in the ground floor bistro is ala carte, with both local and international choices that were always generously portioned. I would gladly stay here again if I need to be in Thimphu!

I stayed at The Pema Hotel for 3 nights with my parents, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we made the booking, Hem, the manager ensured everything went smoothly — arranging taxis, a local guide, and even helping us plan our itinerary. The attention to detail and warm hospitality truly stood out. Our room was beautiful, with stunning views of the mountains that we could gaze for hours. Then entire staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful — always greeting us with a smile and answering every question with grace and positivity. The food at the hotel was delicious, and we also treated ourselves to massages at their spa, which were incredibly relaxing and professional. Pema is a boutique hotel that truly punches above its weight — in fact, our experience here was better than many 5-star hotels we've stayed at. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Thimphu, Bhutan!

Stayed here with our family (two kids 7 & 11 yrs). The food was some of the best we’ve ever eaten in a hotel 👏👏. The service was warm and friendly from first arrival, through to room service and breakfast in the morning.
