The Priory 1 mile from Ramside Hall Hotel Spa and Golf & A1

We recently stayed at Ramside Hall and from start to finish, the experience was outstanding. Set in beautiful grounds just outside Durham, the hotel is a perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and top-tier hospitality. Whether you’re there for a romantic getaway, spa break, golf weekend, or a family treat — Ramside ticks every box. The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean, and tastefully decorated. Ours had a stunning view of the golf course and came with a very comfortable bed, modern bathroom, and all the amenities you’d expect from a high-end hotel. It was clear a lot of thought goes into the details. We also used the spa facilities and they are genuinely among the best in the North East. The hydrotherapy pool, outdoor infinity pool, steam rooms, and sauna offer complete relaxation. It never felt overcrowded, and everything was spotless. We had dinner in the Rib Room steakhouse and the food was top class — perfectly cooked, great portions, and professional service. Breakfast the next morning was just as good, with plenty of choice and quality produce. The grounds are beautiful and the staff couldn’t do enough for us throughout. We left feeling totally refreshed. Ramside Hall is a real gem — we’ll definitely be back soon.

Our Golf Society of 28 players stayed 2 nights, playing both courses. I can only say that it was one of the best weekends away we have had. I was informed on booking that the 7th hole on the Cathedral course was closed for alterations, with a par 5 made into a par 3 and a par 4, but this didn’t cause a major issue. The hotel was great, the rooms were more than adequate, the food in the restaurant was excellent, so a good experience. I would recommend Ramside Hall to anyone. July 2025

Second time I’ve stayed here and both have exceeded my expectations. Lovely hotel, with warm, welcoming and friendly staff. The Rib Room restaurant serves the most amazing steaks and fish, in a very ambient setting. And Fusion great for an Asian Fusion experience. Haven’t had chance to visit the third restaurant but I was really impressed with the standard. These aren’t just hotel restaurants. The spa was really good too. Unfortunately didn’t have time for a treatment but the spa menu and Elemis treatments sounded perfect. The hotel staff can’t do enough for you and are clearly very happy in their work. While the hotel is set on a golf course, this isn’t your standard corporate golf hotel. Ten minute drive to Durham and easy access to the motorway, both a real bonus.
