The Quarter Deck

Great views, the sea side Appartment was great for our group. Lovely view on the ocean and beautiful clean beach. The gym is small but offers enough to get a work out in. The restaurant was fine, the staff is super friendly and helpful but the food itself didn’t meet the expectations. Would for sure come back to stay on the property!

Our Stay - We stayed 3 nights in a 2 bedroom beach villa with our two toddlers. The view and sounds of the ocean from the beach villas are the reason we came. The villas themselves could use some upgrading but they did do just fine for our family. Anytime we needed something, the front desk staff were on it. We will definitely be back as our family had an absolute blast staying here on the beach. The Grill - Could use so many improvements. We made a reservation months in advance and still had to wait 30 minutes for our table to be ready (with 3 toddlers in tow). When asked how this happened as we had a reservation, the reply was “there is nothing we can do”. We were finally seated and our food was just average. The service was incredibly slow, waiting 20 minutes for drinks to arrive. Needless to say our kids were over being there before we even sat down. We mentioned a guest at the table was celebrating a birthday and what they could do, they replied that they do nothing, and we could order from the dessert menu. Really? Didn’t even wish the birthday girl a “happy birthday” anyway. No colouring, crayons, anything to keep the kids busy was supplied, we needed to ask. Surely a manager should have made things right by all the downfalls of our 7 person dinner reservation. Many ways to improve, as your Grill customer service does NOT match the management style of the resort. I think the “resort” needs to be more like a resort, and have a connection between the grill and guests staying. No room service available and this could be a really nice addition.

Overall a very pleasant stay. The room was spacious, clean, and had a beautiful ocean view. Housekeeping was responsive and front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. However, the restaurant was quite limited — it opened late, had few options, and the food was just okay for the price. There aren’t many dining alternatives nearby either, so you’ll need to drive elsewhere if you’re looking for variety. The entertainment facilities (movie room, board games, indoor pool, etc.) were quite basic and could be improved. I understand most people come here for the beach and surrounding nature, but since the resort offers these amenities, it would be nice if they were better developed. That said, I’d still recommend it. It’s a great stop along the southern coast when exploring beaches, parks, and small towns around Halifax.
