Room was clean and spacious at first glance but kind of stuffy. Air-conditioning was set to a solid 22℃ which did not feel like it at all. Given that central heating is very common in China so there was nothing I could do, except turning on the barely working air fan. Bottled waters and some amenities were provided. Strong water from both the tab and shower. Stable wifi but needs vpn for further connections. Staff were polite. Room service is available which tasted good and charged reasonably.
Let me share my experience today in this hotel. I was on the 18th floor going to the ground floor to have my breakfast. A manager (perhaps?) and what I think was the receptionist came in with me in the elevator. We picked up a few more guests along the way down, then suddenly, the elevator stopped. There were a few moments that the elevator would free fall and would abruptly stop. Everyone was screaming while I stand anxiously on the corner, trying to brush off the temperature which increases at an uncomfortable level minute-by-minute. To add to this, everybody inside were local and speak in their native tongue while I try to silently decipher the gravity of the situation through their body language and the intonation of their voices. Luckily, the manager and the receptionist speak very fluent English and assured me that everything is going to be okay. I even joked about me missing my breakfast as they stop serving it at around 10am. Long story short, after about 35-45 minutes inside, we were rescued and hotel staffs were waiting outside with refreshments and wet towel. They were very apologetic. The receptionist?, then followed me through the mess hall and offered me to still have my breakfast even if it is past 10. They offered me food that are not served in the buffet. They were apologetic still and I keep telling them that it is okay. Overall, the hotel staff handled the situation extremely well. I commend everyone's professionalism.
Good location, around 15-20 mins drive to Pudong airport or Shanghai Disneyland. Big shopping mall opposite the hotel. I have stayed a few times here and the toilets always smell though.
