The room size is large enough for American tourists like me. It is well furnished and stocked with basic amenities like coffee and toiletries. The cleaning service is good as well and supplies enough new towels, etc. for a comfortable multi-day stay. No extras like a pool or gym, but a great functional home base for a sightseeing trip.
Great stay! Really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It's location was excellent. 5 minutes from the main train and buss station. The room was cleaned everyday and breakfast was just the right amount of selection. Staff were friendly and attentive. Overall an excellent stay and would definitely recommend and stay here again!
Robbed in the lobby. Proximity to train station makes this a high tourist crime area. I’m sad to write this review because the republic was very promising. Right next to the Roman bathhouse. The staff was very accommodating during our stay. Our room was comfortable. Breakfast was great. Elevator not big enough. I was in a group of 30, they overbooked the hotel and sent some of our group to another hotel. The worst part was we got robbed in the lobby while checking in. Someone stole a purse off of a piece of luggage. Our whole group was in the lobby and 3 or 4 staff members. The hotel was unable to take responsibility, and was unable to show us the video to confirm it was stolen. It resulted in one of our members spending 3 entire days trying to report the crime and replace her passport. The police can’t do anything but make a report for the purpose of obtaining a passport. They will not try to find the thief. They do not care. The proximity to the train station was initially a plus for us, it’s a 5 minute walk. The proximity to little cafes and restaurants is great. But we can’t help but feel that the same proximity made tourists huge targets and made criminals hang around the hotel lobby. The way the hotel acted after the theft made us very suspicious of their involvement, we left after one night because they were disinterested in garnering back our trust. We stayed at their sister hotel, the guardian. Highly highly highly suggest staying there. Rooftop bar, safe area, above and beyond staff.
