The Ritz Carlton Chicago

We’ve been going to this hotel for many years on and off, since before it was even a Marriott flag! Many people forget that the Ritz Carlton was at its inception a Four Seasons property. The Ritz has for decades been one of the gems of the Magnificent Mile. The fact that its neighbor, Water Tower Place, is a shadow of its former self has not diminished the quality of this property. The PIP from a few years ago, heightened the beauty of the property and made it more modern. I admit I still miss the old dining room but times change. And the newer rooms are also magnificent. What I love about this hotel the most, however, is the people. Case in point: I went to the hotel a couple of years ago after an absence of several years. And yet the doorman somehow remembered my name! I still marvel at this. And the level of service here from top to bottom is simply first rate. Do we have multiple favorite hotels in Chicago Admittedly, yes. You can read those reviews too. But the Ritz always has a special place in our hearts.

From check-in to checkout, the staff operated with focus, respect, and professionalism. Every request was handled without hesitation or friction. The room was quiet, well-designed, and extremely comfortable. The bed, layout, and finishes created a calm environment. Cleanliness was impeccable. Room service was fast, well-executed, and satisfying across multiple meals. I also spent time in the hotel’s restaurant and bar. The pizza was excellent. The bartenders were sharp, aware, and effective. The location is ideal—steps from Michigan Avenue, but protected from noise and chaos. It’s close to the lake, art, and shopping, but the building feels composed and removed from the rush. This was not just a stay. It was a restoration of energy and order in the middle of a demanding schedule. I will return.

Let’s be real—when you stay at The Ritz, your expectations are already sky-high. And yet, this location in downtown Chicago exceeded them. From the moment I arrived, the service was impeccable. Every single staff member I encountered was warm, polished, and genuinely attentive. Housekeeping deserves a standing ovation—my room was returned to a state of flawless perfection every time I left. No detail was overlooked. The room itself? Absolutely stunning. Spacious, modern, with tasteful luxury and a view that genuinely made me pause. The bathroom was sleek and spotless, with thoughtful lighting and high-end finishes that made it feel like a private spa. The in-room amenities (hello, Nespresso and plush robes) were just another layer of the Ritz-level standard. This was a work trip, but it felt like a retreat. I wasn’t surprised by the quality—this is the Ritz, after all—but I was still impressed. Every inch of this property exudes excellence.
