Great value! All is good — just avoid eating seafood there. My partner got diarrhea from the seafood buffet.
The plus is that it’s located in a nice area and has easy access to the river walk. Like the other reviewer, I was also charged a large amount of deposit, ~6k, which was very strange. Breakfast selection was very limited and food quality wasn’t great either. The pastries didn’t taste fresh at all, worse than a 2-star hotel. I stayed for over a week but didn’t receive any welcome gift, which is very common at other 5-star hotels in China. One day there was a wedding fleet in front and they completed blocked all driveway. I had to go out far to call for rideshare didi, which was very inconvenient. Overall a 3-star experience.
After visiting all the other premium hotels I’ve experienced the Ritz Carlton at first time in Harbin and I suppose that time would be the last one. 1) No any welcome drinks or other welcome service 2) Extremely poor English of all the staff - most of employees don’t understand you and cannot answer even the simpliest questions 3) Extremely poor check-in - the room was fully prepaid and we were not noticed about deposits and it was quite strange, when I was asked for 5000RMB deposit and my colleague was called for 2000RMB deposit. I was told that the rooms are full of valuable things and the hotel wants to be sure that I will not destroy it. It is absolutely inappropriate way of customer communication and service. I’d like to feel like a welcomed guest at reception of Ritz, not like a low level thief. 4) Food has an inappropriate poor quality and I got ill after dinner at restaurant on the 54 floor. 5) The bathroom was filled with the tobacco smoke and it smelled all 3 days of our stay 6) The maintenance of the room was done in untidy and inaccurate way - I could mention the different colour of paint of the bedroom door, scrapes on the walls, etc. 7) Air conditioning worked in its own way and I had no option to change the temperature and fan to the comfortable level. An overall customer experience was poor and I’m fully disappointed in Ritz. I suppose it could be the good hotel for Harbin, but it doesn’t meet any requirements of the worldwide famous luxury hotel group. It’s not luxury, not comfortable, service is poor and inconvenient, food is disgusting. I’ll never recommend that hotel to anyone.
