The service has been on the highest level, the rooms are very spacious and beautifully decorated in colonial style that I adore. The breakfast had so many wonderful dishes. The location is top as well, literally one minute away from Pavilion. I will be back definitely! The health club was good too, I often encounter problems with how things work in the gym or recovery areas even in 5* hotels but here everything worked perfectly. 💯 Thank you for the best service and care during my stay.
[PROS] 1. Location: Connected to The Starhill and right by many malls in Bukit Bintang. Fantastic for shopping—and especially if you're tired after a long day and just want to grab dinner nearby. Personally, we especially liked the Eslite bookstore / lifestyle outlets in The Starhill. 2. Service: The staff were always friendly, helpful, and professional. They did their best to honor my request for a quiet room (far from the elevator) and gifted us with a sumptuous chocolate cake and decorations (towel art + rose petals) to commemorate our wedding anniversary. Thank you!🙏 3. Fragrance: The hotel had a lovely vanilla-ish scent throughout that felt inviting and refreshing. [CONS] 1. Food: The buffet breakfast quality was good, but the selection was limited compared to what I’ve found at other 5-star hotels in Malaysia or elsewhere in S E Asia. I also found the dim sum at Luk Yu (in The Starhill, where you can also bill restaurant expenses to your Ritz-Carlton hotel room) quite dull. It tasted like pseudo dim sum made for foreigners. But I suppose it only matters if you’re a connoisseur of Chinese food. P.S.: On the bright side, there are tons of terrific restaurants nearby. E.g., we were floored by Michaelangelo’s (Italian, in Pavilion) and Las Meninas (Spanish, in The Exchange TRX). 2. Pool: The swimming pool water was murky! And the pool was quite small and narrow. 3. Condition: My hotel room (Executive Deluxe King) felt dated. Some cabinet doors were creaky and the carpet felt old. The soap dispenser wasn’t working and I had to wiggle the bottle out of its holder to get to the soap. 4. Sound proofing: The windows in my room weren’t sealed well. As a result, the sound of wind + traffic hum below were always audible. It’s not particularly loud, but still it detracts from the sense of peace and quiet. [OVERALL] In sum, I was slightly disappointed with my hotel stay. It wasn’t as “lux” as I thought a Ritz-Carlton would/should be. But I suppose there’s a reason why the price point here is distinctly lower than virtually any other Ritz-Carlton in the world (with the exception of perhaps a few in China). To be fair, it’s a very good and nice hotel—and I’m sure that if I’d provided them with all this feedback during my stay, they’d have fixed it to the best of their abilities. It’s just that for the price (~RM880/night in late July), I could have gotten a plusher overall experience elsewhere at a comparable or even lower price.
Having picked Ritz Carlton Kuala Lumpur after having good experiences in other Ritz hotels, I do not recommend this one at all. Especially the executive lounge, it is not worth it. Good things: Rooms are nice Pretty hotel in certain areas Decent choice at breakfast Bad things: Executive lounge issues: no sparkling wine (pretty much the only 5 star hotel that ran out of sparkling wine for the full 5 night duration of our stay), food hit and miss (beef rubbery and chicken curry mainly skin and fat from chicken), deserts not great. Lunch simple small salads and stale sandwiches. In general, it was a waste of money paying for it as the worst lounge in a 5 star hotel i have ever been to. The pool is cold, the kids for once did not want to bother to play in the pool-that is the first. The adult pool was cold too and not really used by many. Taxi dropping us off could not access the road to the hotel, it seems to be one way going out of the hotel. had to get out around the corner and drag our bags on the pavement. On arrival, i found the club lounge a bit dismissive saying we must be in the other section before even asking my name to see. Orange juice at breakfast did not taste fresh and smoothie bar felt like it had syrup added. Omelette very untidy looking and oily. Wake up call teas and coffees tend to be late for some of our party at 7.30 can come at 8am. Sauna and jacuzzi are for 18 and over, our 16yr old was disappointed.
