Incredible rooms, and extraordinary staff. There are complimentary gentle Yoga Stretching classes, one at 7:30 and one at 8:30. They were outstanding. Gorgeous views, and an area called the "Living Room" that is perfect for all types of groups, but is also ideal for multi-generational family gatherings. It has a relaxed vibe and excellent food and beverage. Hot tubs, pool area, all outstanding. This is an incredible resort, ideal for those who really need some R and R.
The Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe is a beautiful property with a rustic charm that perfectly complements its mountain surroundings. The hotel is clean, well-maintained, and offers a cozy, lodge-style atmosphere that fits the vibe of the location well. While it doesn’t quite match the ultra-luxury feel of some Ritz-Carlton city properties, it still delivers a memorable and relaxing experience. The pool area was absolutely stunning, peaceful, scenic, and a perfect place to unwind. The staff throughout the hotel, especially at the pool and in the restaurant, were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We felt very welcomed and well taken care of in most areas of the property. The one area that fell short was the valet and bell service. Unfortunately, the staff there didn’t seem as attentive or guest-focused. We experienced long delays in luggage pickup and ended up loading our own vehicle, which is not something we've encountered at other Ritz locations or hotels in this class. At times, it felt like staff only prioritized certain guests, perhaps those they assumed would tip which was disappointing and not in line with the level of service expected from a Ritz-Carlton. Overall, it's a lovely property in a beautiful setting, and we enjoyed our stay but there’s definitely room for improvement in guest service consistency, particularly at the front of house.
We placed a call with in-room dining yesterday and got a call back a few minutes later on the telephone in the room saying the system had gone down and they needed our credit card again to proceed with our in-room dining order. A few minutes after that we received a call from Amex that someone had just used our card to make multiple fraudulent purchases at $2,200 each. We immediately went downstairs to let the front desk know and were met with zero concessions and hardly an apology - simply said thank you for alerting them to the security issue. Someone clearly has access to their phone lines, they knew our names and that we had placed an in-room dining order just minutes before. It also seems like this has potentially happened before since no one at the desk seemed to be surprised or alarmed by the situation. 24 hours later not a single person from the hotel has reached out to us to apologize, update us on what happened, let us know what investigative measures they're taking, or offer any concessions. We already had a laundry list of complaints about our stay here. From inconsistent housekeeping, stained carpets and bedding, overpriced food options, and valet not receiving calls from the front desk multiple times. We were also shocked to find out that the pool was under construction in the middle of the summer and it would be $500 to visit the lake club, even as guests at the hotel. This has been an extremely terrible experience all the way around, I absolutely would not stay here again for vacation. There are so many better hotels in the country at a similar rate that provide much better value.
