The Ritz Carlton Turks & Caicos

For the first time in a while, I had a vacation experience that I have zero dissatisfaction with. The Ritz-Carlton at Turks and Caicos was truly excellent. From the bell staff greeting us, the concierge checking us in, all the way though the catamaran crew, servers, bar staff, and housekeeping everyone was friendly, helpful, and professional. The hotel is beautiful and well-maintained; the air conditioning worked well, the rooms were immaculate each day and we slept very well each night. The crew taking care of guests on the beach was great with getting a chair set up and bringing whatever we needed. The bar staff made excellent cocktails and were always helpful.

This trip was my first time in Turks and I absolutely loved it! The water may be the clearest I have ever seen. Turks is great and I will be back, but when I return to Turks it will not be at the Ritz. The location of the resort was great, easy access to everything, and we loved the casino, but the service and the accommodations were not what you would expect out of a Ritz Carlton. Our taxi driver told us he regularly picks guests up from this resort who have checked out and are checking in to a new resort because they are unhappy with the accommodations/service at this resort given the price point. It was a great trip with beautiful scenery, but I think the price-tag does not reflect the quality of the resort. We had dinners a few nights at other resorts that had similar nightly rates, that were much nicer. We did a private charter one day, and it was the highlight of our trip and worth the splurge!

I wish I could say that this was one of the best Ritz-Carlton hotels that we’ve ever stayed at but that would be far from the truth. I do want to start out this review by saying that the hotel staff did do their best to rectify the situations that we had after they did happen. It just took multiple situations and failure to meet the Ritz Carlton standard before they started stepping in to make things right. Upon checking into the residence that we stayed in at this location the room was HOT it took asking four different times and into the late evening for somebody to come try to fix the AC unit in the rooms, nothing was resolved until the next day when a technician came and saw that the AC unit vents were completely closed shut and he opened them to let the air start flowing through. Mind you have a two-year-old so this was very inconvenient. We had a surprise proposal for our close friends as well as my husband’s birthday and over 20 guests staying at the property altogether. So many points were missed from the special custom features for the engagement at the dinner. Almost every time we Eat breakfast or dinner it took over an hour and a half to get the bill because after you’re given the food nobody comes to check on you. So many empty classes left on the tables having to ask to have a water refilled etc. The pool service our last two days was fairly decent this weight staff is very friendly. However the speed was extremely slow. It took forever to get menus over 30 minutes to get drinks by the pool. And honestly the resort was not very full it was pretty empty from what we observed. After overhearing other guests we realize that it was not just us experiencing this extremely slow service and almost frankly just weird to not be checked on after you get menus at the table or drinks at the table it was like they didn’t want to wait on you but until we order things they don’t get paid so it was just very strange. I don’t think that we will be returning to this property we have stayed at other Ritz Carlton’s that have been very beautiful and the standard is amazing Ritz grand cayman is absolutely impeccable and that was what we thought we would be receiving at Turks and Caicos
