Having stayed at The Royal Beach Seminyak many times pre Covid we were slightly nervous to book as we knew the hotel side was not open yet and that it was only the Villas available. What a fabulous surprise we had 😄 The Villa had a huge pool ( not all villas do some are plunge pools) - the staff were so attentive and friendly- the huge communal pool is back open albeit operated by Sunset Beach Bar - where they do sell pool passes to walk ins but the pool is large enough to take it. Also great for drinks and food once the hotel restaurant closes at 2pm. The breakfast is great choice of either a traditional Indonesian breakfast/ American Breakfast or Continental Breakfast. We will definitely return.

Like staying in a lost city. Mainly because the place has been neglected and 80% of the site is closed and been left for many years to fall apart. Saying that, the operator is taking bookings for the villas that each have a private courtyard and pool. The villas are a bit dirty, and not maintained, which is sad because it looks like it once was majestic. You should not expect any service to the room but they do provide breakfast at the adjoining restaurant and guests can use the sunset beach pool/bar. However, if you like to be left alone and can see the beauty that once was this Hotel, it is a very good location, to have private pool is great, and is being booked at discounted price.

We arrived at the hotel in complete shock to discover that the main part of the property was closed, with only the villa section still operating. None of the advertised amenities were available, no gym, no room service, no working phone or TV in the room, and no breakfast or functioning restaurant. It felt like we were staying in an abandoned resort. The property is extremely run down and clearly hasn’t been maintained in a long time. What was once a beautiful, tranquil destination is now sadly falling apart. The gardens are overgrown, the infrastructure is crumbling, and the overall vibe is eerie and neglected. There was no clear communication before our arrival about the hotel’s current state, which made the whole experience feel misleading. While the price may have seemed reasonable at first glance, it quickly became clear why it was cheaper because nearly everything that makes a stay enjoyable was simply not there. Very disappointing, especially knowing this place used to have such great potential. Would not recommend unless major renovations and honest advertising are done.
