The Royal Inn

The owners and staff were very helpful, resolved any minor issues quickly. Large room with a wet room on the ground floor really helped as staying with my elderly mother. Breakfasts cooked to order and cooked to perfection for our tastes.

I loved my night at The Royal Inn. I stayed here with my mum in an accessible room on the ground floor. Very well decorated, quiet and with a lovely bathroom. Tv, coffee and tea making facilities, biscuits! And lots of drawer, and wardrobe space. My mum loved the king-size bed and I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much from the sofa bed. However, it was super comfy. The only disappointing thing was the lack of a chef meant we had to order in food. However, that was a small thing to be honest. All in all we had a lovely stay. I would definitely go back!

This is not a hotel, and definitely not a 4-star one. The overall quality of everything is very poor. The room was not cleaned well - cobwebs in every corner, dust on all towel rails (see photo), the kettle was quite dirty too. The safety deposit box was in a broken state (it was asking for a code despite being open) and we needed the staff to fix it. The Wi-Fi is unusable - it regularly disconnects, and often fails to obtain an IP address (i.e. an attempt to connect to it fails). Sometimes when my device was connected, there was no Internet access. There are big gaps around the room door (see photo), and all the noises from the corridor and even other rooms are very loud. Also, the corridor doors don’t close softly, but bang loudly even if you try to close them slowly. Two showers over the bath - one has a tap for the amount of water and another tap for the temperature, but it can only be changed between quite hot and boiling. The other shower has a tap for the amount of cold water and another tap for the amount of hot water, however the shower hose is connected without any rubber seals and it leaks on both ends. There are 5 switches to control 3 groups of the ceiling lights, but the one by the bed doesn't work. The other 4 switches are by the door, and 2 of them control the same group of lights... The whole point of the two-way switches is that they are away from each other (e.g. by the entrance and by the bed)... On the only evening we wanted to have dinner, the kitchen was closed.
