Loved this hotel! Amazing location, so close to all the great shops, a short walk to the fish market and close to so many great restaurants. The rooms were immaculate, really well serviced and spacious. We loved the cotton waffle pyjamas and slippers, as well as the extra amenities provided at reception. The shower was amazing… two shower heads, with Bluetooth music connection available also. The rooms were so well sound proofed and had curtains that darkened the hotel room so you could sleep well. Check in and check out was super quick and easy! Plus there is an amazing sushi restaurant across the road. I read one review about a locker room smell in the hotel being present and wondered if this person had ever travelled to locations with high humidity. Go anywhere that’s very hot and humid and you’re likely to experience this, but I only did in the reception and this would definitely not put me off from staying here again. This was such a great hotel, I’ll be back 💯 %.
Overall a pretty good stay, friendly staff and I liked that the lobby doubled as a bar / lounge (though it does get crowded for check-in). The rooms were clean and spacious, and I liked the projector set up. A second control panel for the lights on the other side of the bed would have been great though. Although I’m not particularly bothered by noise, the train line is almost directly beneath the hotel and you can hear trains 24/7. If you’re a light sleeper I’d suggest staying somewhere else. I think I was expecting slightly more for the price, but our stay was comfortable.
I really appreciate the kindness and professionalism of the staff. They did their best to help when I raised my concerns. They offered to change my room and even assisted with canceling my reservation when I explained that, due to my medical condition, I can’t stay in an environment that isn’t clean. That said, the hotel itself wasn’t what I expected for the price. The lobby had a strong, unpleasant odor, like a mix of sweat and sewage, and the carpet smelled musty and old. The room had a similar smell, like a gym locker room, and the carpets throughout were very worn. It honestly felt more like a love hotel than a proper accommodation. I chose this place thinking that paying a bit more would mean better quality, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The staff were the best part of the experience, and I’m grateful for how understanding and supportive they were.
