Dream Holiday at The Royal Senses Resort in Crete We spent 5 wonderful days (4 nights) at The Royal Senses Resort in Crete and were very satisfied overall. The hotel is located about an hour from Heraklion Airport and offers a calm, relaxed atmosphere – ideal for switching off and unwinding. Although the official check-in time is 3:00 p.m., we were allowed to go to our room already around noon – a Grand Deluxe Room with a private pool. We were taken there by golf cart, which was very comfortable. The room was spacious, modern, and very clean. We especially loved the private pool and the large terrace with a sea view – simply stunning at sunset! We had booked half board. Breakfast was solid, though fairly similar each day. Dinner, on the other hand, was excellent: a wide selection, new dishes every night, and very high quality – from ribeye steak and grilled salmon to prawns and spare ribs, everything was included. The hotel’s own app made it easy to book restaurants or order food and drinks – very convenient! One small downside was that cocktails couldn’t be ordered to the room. According to the hotel, this was due to maintaining quality during transportation. That’s understandable, but a bit inconvenient if you just want to relax in the evening. The hotel grounds are spacious and a bit maze-like in parts – almost like a small labyrinth. There’s a panoramic elevator with a great view, though there can be some waiting time during peak hours. The standard elevators require a few detours, but with a little orientation, you find your way around quite easily. The hotel’s own shuttle takes you to the beach every 30 minutes – a private beach belonging to the sister hotel The Royal Blue – a lovely option for a beach day. There’s also a small supermarket nearby, about a 10-minute walk away. Conclusion: A beautiful and relaxing stay with lots of comfort, great food, and privacy. The private pool was definitely a highlight! We would absolutely come back.
Great resort in Crete, although our room was so so. The resort is beautiful, well kept and the staff friendly. I enjoyed the breakfast and we had one dinner which was excellent. The pools are wonderful and the location good. Onto the first world problems: when we arrived we were told we were upgraded. Turns out it was not an upgrade at all. We were given an accessible room. It might have been bigger, but it did not look like any of the hotel pictures. Small balcony, bathroom with a small sink, no proper shower, lots of space but with nothing in it, quite loud as it was just above the hotel outdoor bar. All in all, a downgrade Vs. the regular room. In the future, be honest. If you are going to stay, unless you need the accessible room, make sure you ask not be given one.
It’s our first night here, and unfortunately, I’m very disappointed. The pictures online promise a luxurious and dreamlike experience, but the reality on-site tells a very different story. We chose this hotel especially for our honeymoon, hoping for something truly special and unforgettable. However, upon entering the bathroom, one issue after another caught my eye: cobwebs on the ceiling, a partially broken shower, and poorly executed repairs that leave a sloppy impression. At the pool, most of the sunbeds were either dirty or damaged – see photos. At nearly €400 per night, I expected much more – especially when it comes to the basics being flawless. On top of that, the elevator is out of service, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. The only positive aspect so far has been the friendly service from the staff. Sadly, that alone doesn’t make up for the many flaws. A big disappointment for an occasion that was supposed to be truly memorable.
