The Royal Sonesta Chicago Downtown

Nice rooms- well decorated and clean. However there are a few things I’d change: - a true desk (there was a small round table and chair.) - AC wasn’t as powerful as I hoped - furniture is blocking the center of the curtains so you have to move the table and chairs to close the curtains However I was very glad that when I forgot my razor, concierge had one sent to me immediately. Overall a great hotel

We had a great time staying at this hotel during our annual summertime Chicago trip! The location was perfect! We have stayed in many hotels on the downtown area, but the service here was top-notch. I expect front desk staff to be kind, helpful, and personable, but ALL the support staff was very nice and service-oriented. I have never had cleaning staff greet me without being prompted, but that was consistently the case at the Royal Sonesta on the Riverwalk. Our suite was beautiful and very spacious. The only thing that we didn’t love is that the gaps under the room doors are pretty big, so you don’t get that insulation to muffle hallway sounds like you do at most other places. That is the ONLY reason I’m not giving 5 stars. I still highly recommend!

I booked this hotel specifically for the river view room and it did not disappoint! Absolutely stunning view of downtown from the room. I hate to give service 3 stars because everyone was very nice. BUT... -The air conditioning sucked -Our shower didnt have cool water; it was either hot or skin blistering. We called down about it, waited about an hour, then canceled because it was taking too long and getting late. -Went to get a luggage cart for checkout and was told that staff had to help and that I couldn't take it up to my room myself. After about an hour wait we ended up just bringing everything down without it. With that being said, I'd stay there again. The view and location is worth it!
