The Royal Sonesta Minneapolis Downtown

We were greeted greatly. Check in lady was fantastic. The experience as a whole was great. Beautiful hotel. Awesome location. 1 little hiccup. Not even really worth mentioning. But I will. At 8:45 this morning we had knocks on the door. I was trying to wake up. As I was getting out of bed the door opened. It was housekeeping. At 8:45 the morning of check out. We hadn't checked out. Why is housekeeping coming into our room on a 1 night stay over 2 hours before check out? I called front desk for a late check out. Lady said no. I said I was a gold member. She immediately gave til noon.

The hotel is in a perfect location—conveniently close to just about everything. However, the service left much to be desired. I had to request and personally go downstairs for nearly every basic item. Essentials like a toothbrush, toothpaste, or shower cap weren’t provided in the room, and even after calling, I was still asked to come down to retrieve them. I also requested housekeeping, but no one showed up, and I had to follow up several times. On a positive note, the front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The room itself had a charming design, but the carpet was worn and had a few holes. Overall, while the location is excellent, the service definitely needs improvement.

Do not be fooled by their amazing location. Their service was terrible. They didn’t have our room ready when we checked in at 6 pm, which made us late to our Twins game. They also over booked their hotel, so we were given a room with one bed and a cot. Staff was embarrassing and we were offered no compensation or help to relieve the matter. Don’t waste your time here. Do not be fooled by their blanket comment they will inevitably post after this review. They will leave no way to contact them. We have sent multiple emails and asked to talk to the general manager.
