This was my second stay at the Royal Sonesta Capitol Hill, and once again, it impressed me. The service feels elevated, with thoughtful touches and genuinely welcoming staff. The hotel is clean, quiet, and beautifully designed, with a spacious, airy lobby that sets a calm tone from the moment you walk in. I was traveling with my dog, and was pleasantly surprised to find a dog bed, bowls, and treats waiting for us at check-in—an example of the hotel’s attention to detail. The front desk team is consistently helpful, and the bell staff greets you warmly every time you come or go, adding to the overall feeling of hospitality. The experience has the polish and feel of a luxury hotel, but at a much more accessible price point. While I’ve been disappointed by other Royal Sonesta locations in the past, this one stands out. It delivers the level of service, cleanliness, and overall quality I usually associate with higher-end five-star hotels. Highly recommend
A Hidden Gem in the Heart of D.C. — Pure Class from Start to Finish I’ve stayed in many hotels across major cities, but The Royal Sonesta Washington, DC Capitol Hill left a lasting impression — not just for its impeccable design or location, but for something harder to describe: soul. From the first moment we walked through the doors, we felt it. The lobby exudes calm sophistication, like entering a private members’ club that’s both elegant and inclusive. Staff greeted us not just with politeness, but genuine interest — they seemed to truly enjoy making people feel at home. Our room was a sanctuary. High ceilings, soft lighting, luxurious bedding, and a bathroom that could rival a boutique spa. Everything felt freshly designed and thoughtfully placed — not a single corner overlooked. The details mattered: • Water bottles always restocked • Fluffy robes that made mornings better • Quiet hallways and perfect blackout curtains • Outlets everywhere (finally!) • And cleanliness? Spotless. We were just a short stroll from the Capitol, Union Station, and several beautiful parks, yet once inside the hotel, it was so quiet and peaceful it felt like we had discovered a secret. It’s rare to feel both connected to the city and so completely relaxed. The on-site dining was a true surprise — not just a convenience, but a destination. We had cocktails one night that rivaled some of the top spots in NYC. Breakfast was elegant, fresh, and unhurried. But the real luxury? The staff. Every interaction was warm, professional, and thoughtful. They remembered our names. They anticipated our needs. They made us feel like we belonged. This is not just a hotel — it’s the kind of place that becomes part of your travel memories. A place you want to return to not just because of what it offers, but because of how it feels. We left refreshed, grateful, and already planning our return. Thank you, Royal Sonesta — you’ve set a new standard.
Let me tell you about our experience at this hotel. The hotel is very clean, nice, and upscale. Jose who works the front counter to check in is a very nice 👍 and respectful guy to everyone and every guests 👍. The other people should take learning advice from him. This hotel mainly caters to company's or people holding meetings or events their not really a family oriented hotel with children. The restaurant that joins the hotel food is okay small portions and really expensive. Hopefully you don't get room 429 because the beds are horrible! Woke up every morning with back hurting. I'm assuming there was a very large human who been in this room for awhile because both beds felt like a meteorite hit the mattress sleeping in a hole 🕳. I understand that the hotel is no smoking 🚭 and the only place to smoke is outside. I don't have a problem with that. The problem is when you or your company guests go outside to smoke they Will be attacked by the homeless people all over the place asking for money , cigarettes, and food. There is a homeless shelter across the street from hotel and they Will come get into your business and if you don't give them something they will talk shit to you and your guests. I was thinking they had some kind of security walking around the hotel telling them they can't stay here or sleep on sidewalks and benches but they don't ! Hopefully this review helps with family's with children and business people traveling to DC .
