The Royal Surakarta Heritage Handwritten Collection

Staying overnight at this hotel was a pleasant surprise. I initially chose it for its premium location in the city center of Surakarta, without realizing it was actually a five-star hotel. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by a strong Javanese ambiance—reflected in the architecture, interior details, and overall atmosphere. The staff were courteous and even took the time to explain the history and philosophy behind the hotel, which added a special touch to our experience. Some elements, however, showed signs of age, such as the shower head, in-room telephone, and fitness equipment. Sadly, we didn’t get a chance to enjoy the swimming pool as we arrived late and had to check out the next morning. Nonetheless, this hotel is definitely worth revisiting on my next trip to Surakarta.

Decor of the common areas is exceptional, like being in a museum. Breakfast was decent and staff were lovely. Pool on third floor is great spot for afternoon sun but shaded the rest of the day as mostly undercover. Rooms are big and clean but furnishings whilst elaborate are getting a bit tired. Restaurants, cafes and coffee shops nearby as is the Kraton.

the overall hotel is beautiful, not just good, but classy in its way with many traditional accent. everyone is so nice, our room service left animal shaped towel everyday and that made me smile everytime I got back from exploring surakarta. I do have some complaints; our room was dusty especially on our bed head board I have allergies and that made my nose runny the whole stay, your shower head is also need fixing as I can no longer predict the way water come and it drenched the bathroom, the amenities can use some upgrading
