I recently stayed at the Russelior Hotel in Hammamet for seven days. This was my first visit to Tunisia, and upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by a staff member named Baha, who was professional, informative, and genuinely hospitable. We were offered welcome drinks, which added a nice touch to the check-in experience. However, throughout our stay, there were several aspects of the service that left us disappointed. To begin with, the room service was consistently slow. It often took over an hour for drinks to be delivered, and we had to call multiple times to follow up on our orders. This delay was not limited to the room — service by the pool was also sluggish, with drinks taking between 40 to 60 minutes to arrive. In addition to the delays, there were noticeable inconsistencies in the drinks. For example, a cappuccino would vary significantly depending on the day: sometimes half full with cocoa powder on top, other times barely filled and without any chocolate powder. On our final day, the same drink was served without the usual water accompaniment or tray presentation, which felt careless. The gym facilities were adequate and met expectations. However, I found it unusual and disappointing that access to the spa facilities — which consisted of a single sauna and a steam room, both quite small — was not included in the hotel price. Guests were required to pay an additional 20 Tunisian dinars (around £5) per visit. If I had wanted to use the spa four times during my stay, that would have added £20 to my expenses on top of the already considerable hotel cost. The massage service also fell short of expectations. There was no consultation or form to assess preferred pressure levels, which is typically standard practice. As a result, I experienced discomfort in my shoulder area for two days following the treatment due to the overly deep pressure. I also felt uneasy when the masseuse subtly hinted for a tip afterward. Lastly, while our stay included breakfast, the buffet did not appear appealing — it was messy and lacked variety. We considered trying the lunch or dinner options, but were deterred by a strong, overwhelming smell of seafood that lingered around the dining area. In conclusion, while the reception staff — especially Baha — provided excellent service, the overall experience at the Russelior Hotel did not meet expectations. Service was inconsistent, often unprofessional, and some offerings were overpriced. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel based on my stay.
Definitely not 5 star rating quality. 45 minutes to check in, no arrival drink. Looks high end but rooms are average, no tea or coffee facilities at all, no kettle, no iron, poor toiletries. 1 small bottle of water pp that isn't replenished each day! You have to buy your own. Breakfast later than 9am is poorly stocked and a scrabble to find a cup! Just not 5 star. Dissapointing.
Absolutely bad stay. Spent 2 days after my wedding in this hotel, and I can tell you to stay away. Room tables were dirty & sticky when i walked in the first time, woke up at 9 am to construction above my room, my room telephone was not working so I was not able to call reception. Although I repeatedly reported this, nothing changed. No tissues in the room too. Never repeating my stay ever again. Even when I reported to them couple of times, nothing has changed. The music outside was also easily accessible into the rooms.
