The Salisbury Hotel

We spent 2 nights at the Salisbury hotel and it was very good , friendly staff , spacious well appointed bedroom inc tea & coffee facilities plus fridge , ironing board and tower fan which we needed as it was crazy hot weather in Edinburgh , the mattress and pillows were very comfortable , very good choice at the continental breakfast, parking on the forecourt, around 20 min easy walk onto the Royal Mile. Great around and no hesitation in recommending.

Brilliantly located 5 minutes from the city centre. Edinburgh is a definite ye olde place with lots of beautiful places to explore and visit. The Salisbury is an absolute gem, from the old style screening on the windows to the beautiful staircase. If you are unable to climb stairs this may not be for you. There’s a lovely seating area outside and you can bring your own drinks and soak up the atmosphere. The receptionist (Italian guy) was one of the most welcoming front of house we have ever met. He’s a genuine people person.

Rooms were so small that you had to wait your turn to move to the other side of the room if there were 2 of you. Poor service and employees appeared to be on the job for the 1st day. Continental breakfast was nothing more than microwave pastries and oatmeal, deli meats from a plastic package, fresh fruit that was sub par at best. Room snacks were not free. And we were quite far from everywhere! Nothing was simple. Hotel mgmt experience is needed here badly.
