The Scholar

I recently stayed at The Scholar Hotel in Edinburgh, and it truly exceeded my expectations. It’s a peaceful, quiet retreat nestled among beautiful trees and greenery, offering a calm atmosphere that’s perfect for relaxing after a day in the city. What truly stood out for me was the exceptional service. The staff were not only professional and friendly, but genuinely went out of their way to help — even before being asked. Their kindness and efficiency made a lasting impression. After a disappointing experience with another booking platform, I made a same-day reservation at The Scholar. Despite the short notice, the team welcomed us warmly and checked us into all three rooms quickly and smoothly. Their support during a stressful moment is something I’ll never forget. The location is also fantastic — just a 2-minute walk to the bus station, with regular buses that reach the city centre in about 10 minutes. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh. I’ll definitely be staying here again!

We loved our stay here! The room was incredibly clean and lovely. Staff were kind and helpful. The breakfast was well stocked. We had lovely weather during our visit and spending a little quiet time over drinks in the garden was such a treat. We found the location to be great for us: we could be in the midst of the bustle of old town in minutes, but the more relaxed and quieter atmosphere at the Scholar was a great break. We found the buses very convenient.

GREAT place. Set in protected lands full of gardens, paths to walk, and lots of nature at the base of Arthur's Seat. Restaurant serves very good food and room service at no extra charge! The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel is very quiet, even though it is totally sold out. Will definitely stay here again and highly recommend.
