The Scotsman Hotel

I had a great stay at the Scotsman Hotel in Edinburgh. The location is amazing—right in the heart of the city with easy access to everything. The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. I also really enjoyed the Grand Café; it’s a lovely spot for meals or just relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. The only downside was that the Market Street elevator was under maintenance during my visit, which was a bit inconvenient. Overall, though, a great experience and I’d definitely stay again!

A Memorable Stay in the Heart of Edinburgh We recently stayed one night at The Scotsman Hotel during a surprise birthday trip from Denmark, and honestly, it became one of the highlights of our entire UK visit. Even though we were only there for a short time, the experience left a lasting impression. From the moment we stepped into the stunning historic building, we were met with a sense of calm luxury and genuine warmth. I had only booked a standard room, but what awaited us was so much more than we could’ve hoped for. The team went above and beyond to help us mark the occasion in a thoughtful and personal way - something that made us feel truly seen and valued as guests. Our room was beautiful, with a fantastic view and lovely details that made it feel incredibly special. The character of the building shines through in every corner, and you get the sense that this hotel is more than just a place to stay - it’s an experience in itself. Elegant, yet comfortable. Grand, but still welcoming. Beyond the room, the location is absolutely perfect - right between the Old and New Town, close to everything but still peaceful once inside. We left with full hearts and huge smiles, already dreaming of coming back for a longer stay. If you’re considering Edinburgh, don’t miss the chance to stay at The Scotsman. It’s not just a hotel, it’s a memory in the making.

We stayed at the Scotsman for two nights after our wedding. The room was beautiful and very large, wonderful shower and comfortable bed. Unfortunately the windows wouldn't stay open properly which was uncomfortable given the heat wave. We resorted to propping them open with pillows and blankets. Room service meal late at night was tasty but stale bread and small portions for the price. Breakfast was delicious, but very small portions given the price. They had no record of our evening meal booking but were able to make another. We waited half an hour to be seated. The food was delicious, but service rapidly declined halfway during the meal. We waited 20 minutes for a drink order. It was not busy during this time. They did not charge us for food only drinks due to these delays. We did not think to ask for help to take our many pieces of luggage downstairs on check out. Various hotel staff passed us and did not offer to help despite us clearly struggling. Call ahead if you want help! The lift is very small and you will be waiting a long time to get downstairs otherwise.
