We stayed at The Shipyard Angra last year and loved it. Best hotel and best breakfast on the island! The desk staff were very helpful. Our vacation package did not include it as an option this year so we at least wanted to go to dinner there. It was lovely, the food was delicious and the dining room waitstaff was the friendliest and warmest of all the waitstaff in all the other places we ate. We highly recommend it. Its proximity to the wharf makes for an interesting place to dine as well.
A quiet hotel with beautiful rooms. The staff at both the hotel and restaurant were super helpful and gave us some great recommendations since we arrived during the off season. Especially the two young women who worked at the restaurant -they introduced us to some great Portuguese wine. They have great secure and free parking if you rented a car for your trip. Really nice stay! The location is pretty close to the town center and is walkable, but feels far away enough to be a little quiet.
The rooms were very nice, but the service at the hotel was unfortunately not good at all. We sometimes had to wait an hour for our food (at breakfast) to be served.
