The Six Bells

Stopped off at the 6 Bells briefly last week to meet some friends who had a meal there. I joined them for a cheeseboard for dessert. Everyone was complimentary of the food they had consumed. Nice atmosphere inside with a beautiful area out the front for summer evenings. Service was efficient & energetic, provided by a youthful team. Would love to return in the future to try the rotisserie chicken.

Went for lunch for my wife's birthday and it was lovely. Mains of roast cod and terrine of lamb plus half a litre carafe of wine came to £76. Very, very good food and excellent service. Homemade bread and butter with a small pigeon sausage roll as an amuse bouche was a nice touch before the main course. Highly recommended.

We came on Sunday for a roast and had the most delightful wood oven roasted lamb. I was told it would come pink, it did not, however the wood flavours and tender cut made it just as delectable as if it had. The home made Yorkshire pudding was lovely. The root veg was well seasoned and nicely roasted as well. We didn’t find the service of the waitress very friendly, she seemed to want to rush us along through our drink order, pointing irritated at the menu when we asked what tonics they had. Not what I’d expect at a Michelin star restaurant which also takes service into account. The lady taking our order and the manager were lovely, however, and saved the service aspect of the experience for us.
