The Social Hub Berlin

Everything about my stay here was superb! I met my friend here from London and we loved it here. We are both well travelled and we both agree that it is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. The staff are SUPER nice. All of them! The place has a very cool and chill vibe but also "Berliny" vibes. Food was good when we ordered at the hotel restaurant and we were right outside a metro station and 5 mins from main station. Love love love the Social Hub and all its quirky cute things (even the toilet paper was cool 🤣 ). ❤

We stayed here two nights to explore the history and culture of Berlin. The hotel itself is more of a student-centric hotel that welcomes the independent traveler. Due to that, if you’re not a student, you have no access to the laundry or the kitchen down the hall. I was informed upon check in that “laundry service” means taking your laundry down the street to a laundromat “as most other travelers do.” The hallways are very dim as is the room with the blackout curtains. Of course, open the curtains for light and the occupants of the building across the narrow road can see right in your window. It’s not a big deal, just want to set your expectations. The front desk staff upon checking in (a young adult with long curly red hair) was barely helpful and, in fact, seemed quite put out that I had some questions. Upon checkout, there was a quite friendly staff member who was very helpful. Again, it’s not a big deal, just setting your expectations again. The bar staff was very friendly. We kept asking for drinks they couldn't make due to lack of ingredients: a dirty vodka martini (no olive brine) and a white russian (no half and half) BUT the bartender made do with some milk he frothed and shook a LOT. It was quite delicious. Don't be fooled by the student centric hotel... the drinks were expensive. The grocery store (Edeka) inside the mall has a pretty good selection of beer and wine. Hint, hint! The room itself was very clean and comfortable. There was enough room for two with desk space and bed appropriately sized. Two bottles of water were supplied as were coffee and tea with a hotpot for morning brew. The area around the hotel was nice with a mall (and grocery store) just a block away. And a very good Indian restaurant right around the corner. The location was quite suitable for our purposes of taking a walking tour of Berlin. It was about a 30 minute walk to Checkpoint Charlie and Museum Island. We can recommend this hotel if you’re there for just a night or two and you are comfortable with minimalist accommodations.

Hi, I wanted to share that the rooms and location at Social Hub Berlin were excellent for my son’s student stay — overall, we were very pleased with the accommodation and environment. However, I want to raise a concern regarding the return of the security deposit. It has now been two months since his stay ended, and despite multiple attempts to follow up, we have yet to receive a response or any credit back to our account. While the deposit was required upfront, the process of recovering it has proven to be extremely difficult due to the lack of communication. I hope this can be addressed promptly, as the experience otherwise was very positive. Best regards, Madonna
