Easily my favourite hotel I have ever stayed at. Before even checking in, we were greeted by the friendly staff who offered to assist us with the self check-in process & thoroughly explained all of the facilities on offer at the hotel. This included a lovely sized pool, a fully functioning gym, and a stylish bar to name a few. The room itself was comfortable, with a comfy bed, a nice working space and a big bathroom. It was a lovely haven for us to come back to after exploring Bologna, which was only a short 10 min walk into the centre. We felt very settled here, and it was nice to be surrounded by other young people. Only complaint would be that staying near the pool meant sometimes there would be noise from events going on in the social area - but it wasn’t much of a big deal as these events tended to finish around 9:30-10pm. Overall I would highly recommend other young travellers to stay here for a great social experience and fun vibe - it does not disappoint!
Overall, The Social Hub Bologna is a great hotel with a lot to offer. The location is incredibly convenient, just a short walk from the main train station and right by a bus stop, which made getting around super easy. The pool is a huge plus, especially in the summer heat, and the rooms are spacious with modern design and genuinely great amenities. The staff were nice and friendly, and the facilities throughout the hotel were clean and well maintained. However, the biggest downside for us was the bed in our room (1007). It was honestly one of the hardest beds I’ve ever slept on, like sleeping on a rock. We found it really difficult to get a restful night’s sleep because of that. Maybe it was just our room, but it definitely impacted our comfort. Aside from the bed, everything else was spot on, and it’s still a solid choice if you’re visiting Bologna. Just be prepared for a very firm mattress!
The hotel itself is excellent - clean, comfortable, and the staff is friendly and professional. We were very happy with the room and overall service. Unfortunately, the restaurant was a major disappointment. One of the dishes contained an allergen (pork). I didn’t realize this at the time of ordering and only mentioned my allergy after the dish had already been served. I politely asked for a replacement, but the staff refused - and the dish remained almost completely untouched on the table. No discount or alternative was offered. The second dish, which cost €16, I did manage to finish - but it was honestly very poorly made and tasted awful. Definitely not what you expect to get for that price. We ended up leaving the restaurant disappointed and still hungry. Hotel: 4 to 5 stars. Restaurant: 1 star at best. If we return, we’ll definitely stay here again - but we’ll eat elsewhere.
