We loved our stay at The Source Hotel. We enjoyed the sophisticated simplicity of the rooms and enjoyed the view of the city and mountains from our room. The restaurant on the roof top was closed for renovations, which was disappointing but understandable. The pool was smaller than we had thought but it did the job. The area was getting renovations so, I imagine there will be some updating to the deck and pools themselves. My only complaint was that the hot tub was a bit confusing to get working. The Market Hall was a very cool experience too. Smok was delicious but Safta's brunch is a high we will be chasing for a while. It was amazing. There were buses in front of the hotel and the train is a short 15 minute walk away. There is also a pedestrian bridge a few blocks up to take you to the other side of the tracks.
I've stayed at The Source twice now while on work trips, and have had a great experience both times. The hotel is connected to an indoor food market with some great restaurants. Smok has tasty BBQ. I've heard great things about Safta but haven't eaten there. The rooms in the hotel are modern and minimalist. Both rooms I've stayed in have roll-up garage doors which is probably nice in the summertime, but my only complaint is that the blind in front of the garage door lets in a lot of outdoor ambient light, so the rooms don't get very dark at night. The customer service at The Source is on point. On my last stay, I upgraded to a suite and was specifically hoping for one with the large soaking tub so my partner and I could use it together. The room I got had a much smaller tub, so I asked the front desk if they had any other options. Tania was super helpful and got me switched to a room that was exactly what I wanted. After I checked out, I noticed a billing issue on my receipt. I called and spoke to Olivia, who immediately fixed the error and refunded the overpayment. Overall great experience and definitely somewhere I'll be happy to stay again.
The room itself was clean however it was lackluster. Everything is essentially concrete. At least the room was cool in temp because everywhere else around the hotel was blazing hot. The issue I had was this loud, repeated noise coming from above my room. It was so loud that it startled me out of sleep every 30 minutes from 11pm to 6:30am. I was there to take the Bar exam the next day. I called the office three times before anyone answered. They sent someone up to look at it after I called at 1:30am. I heard the noise the rest of the night. When I asked the front desk the next morning, they said they checked and because they heard it coming from my room it must have been me because no one was above me. So they heard it, did nothing about it, and I paid for this expensive room I couldn’t even sleep in. Like, what?! I was able to switch rooms for my second night; however, the hotel comped me absolutely nothing. They were completely uncaring about my super rough night even though these rooms are far too expensive for that. I have emailed them twice and have received no answer. Additionally, nothing really opens there til 7;30 am so if you want coffee before that time period, forget it. Breakfast before 8? Not happening. Do they not think people need to get out prior to 8 am. They have an opportunity here. They don’t have their own parking. So it’s $20 a day to park and the garage is a little far from the rooms. It was cold and sort of creepy. They truly need a better reception area and a place to better unload. Or maybe provide a bellhop at that point. Frustrating….
