The St. Regis Shanghai Jingan

We had a great stay at the St. Regis in Shanghai. The service was excellent, and the staff were attentive and professional throughout our visit. We especially enjoyed spending time in the lounge. It was a beautiful space with great food, drinks, and a relaxing atmosphere. The only downside was the room temperature. Due to government regulations, the hotel is limited in how much they can adjust the climate controls, and our room was quite hot. The room was absolutely beautiful though. Aside from that, everything else was top-notch. We would absolutely stay here again.

Luxurious hotel but slightly disappointing experience in terms of service and the hotel bar was terribly disappointing. No club lounge here too for Marriott members. Upgraded room was pretty posh and I had the best few nights of sleep there. It’s weird though that they don’t provide toothbrush and toothpaste and you have to specially request for it. Breakfast was nothing to shout about but it kept me full. Location was fabulous and a stone’s throw away from numerous restaurants. Most of the staff spoke quite poor English I thought, which was shocking in the hospitality line.

Features Hardware: It has good location on west Beijng Road in the heart of the Jiangan District, Shanghai’s cultural and business center. Its hardware is good, elegant and comfortable. Each room is spacious with good room condition, good bathroom with adequate water pressure. Especially, the Carolina Astor Suite is comfortable with separate living area and spacious bathroom. Except for the old hair dryer and refrigerator not being cool, I like its hardware. Software: It has good butler service. We can ask for tea/coffee and snack to the room, 24 hours But, the big problem is communication in English. I tried some communication at the Chinese restaurant and Front but they can not understand the meaning of word “wine” or “benefit”, unbelievable. Another big problem is dining experience. Room is good but dining in Yan Ting, for the first time in my hundreds of review, I should complain. It is terrible (fishy and unfresh ingredients) The St. Regis Bar is good and Social is not bad. Even though the hardware is good, it is the property how important the software is! It is a shame that such a good hardware has such a not-good software. So, I can recommend: If you need a hotel at moderate room rate in good location but if you do not have plan for dinner in the hotel and if you normally do not need to communicate with the hotel for any request, it can be good choice!
