The Star And Eagle Hotel

Three of us booked for lunch at an inside table but on arrival decided the patio area looked very attractive and we were seated at a lovely comfortable and shaded table. The seating was well above average for outdoor furniture and well cushioned. Waitress service was excellent, friendly and cheerful as she had been on our previous visits, very attentive without being over the top. We ordered baguettes with side salads as we had chosen these on other visits and thoroughly enjoyed them. Again we were not disappointed, the food was lovely. During our visit we asked if we could view a bedroom with a view to a future booking and were shown round without hesitation. Once again a memorable experience and we look forward to our next visit. The lovely old character building added very much to our experience. Would highly recommend.

The Star and Eagle is an absolute gem, delivering an exceptional experience as both a hotel and restaurant! The hotel rooms are spotlessly clean with fantastic views, and the pillows are incredibly comfortable, ensuring a perfect night’s sleep. The staff’s wholesome, caring service made me feel right at home, with genuine hospitality that truly stands out. The restaurant is outstanding, I dined here twice because the food is that incredible. The Sunday roast beef was exceptional, tender, and perfectly cooked with all the classic trimmings, easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The continental breakfast was a delight, featuring fresh ham, vibrant fruits, and flaky pastries, while the full breakfast (locally called "the break") was fantastic, packed with flavor. The cozy, family-friendly pub atmosphere, welcoming to children, embodies true British charm, and it’s heartwarming to see it thriving. Whether you’re staying overnight or just dining, the staff’s warm service and attention to detail make every moment special. I highly recommend The Star and Eagle for its impeccable accommodations, phenomenal food, and heartfelt hospitality. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Had Sunday lunch at the Star and Eagle with 5 friends, yesterday. We all had the Sunday roasts, lamb, beef, pork and vegetarian option. All were excellent, plenty of perfectly cooked meat and a great assortment of vegetables, roast potatoes exceptional. Desserts were wonderful too. Great service from all the staff, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. will definitely be going back, well done everyone.
