The location for both trout fishing as well as proximity to Highland Gate golf course was exactly Perfect! The service we received from the day we traveled and arrived to the day we departed was sincere, warm and welcoming. Rooms were serviced daily and staff were friendly! Location was calming, quiet and tranquil with views that were absolutely breath taking! Thank you Steph and team!

My family and I stayed in the main unit (the farmhouse) over New Year's, and while the property has gorgeous views and offers a lot of potential, we were disappointed with the overall experience. The farmhouse unit did not meet our expectations for the price we paid. Negative aspects: 1. Shower Temperature: In our room, my husband and I couldn’t get the shower temperature right— it was on either extreme of being too hot or too cold. We ended up using the bathroom in the main room instead, which thankfully didn’t have the same issue. This was an inconvenience and definitely something that needs fixing for future guests. 2. Cleaning Service: The cleaning was not thorough. The ladies came in and out quickly but didn’t clean our room or bathroom at all. There were dead bugs and cobwebs left in the rooms from check-in to check-out. This made us feel the property wasn’t being maintained as expected. 3. Lack of Privacy: If you’re looking for privacy, this may not be the best choice for larger groups. The walls are quite thin, and we could hear everything from the other rooms, and bathrooms, which detracted from the overall experience. 4. Value for Money: For the price we paid, the value was lacking. While I understand this is a nature-based getaway, the house, amenities and service should reflect that. We found the living room furniture outdated and worn. It would have been helpful to have more towel racks since bathrooms are shared other than in the main room. A mirror by a plug point to blowdry hair would have been helpful for us ladies. There is a large rock feature that acts as a step from the living room to the kitchen. Whilst it adds a lovely, natural touch to the space, it adds an unnecessary safety hazard, especially in low lighting conditions or to those with mobility issues. A few of us tripped on the rock, luckily without any serious injury. We think it would be wise to add a safer, more stable staircase over it to minimize this risk. Because the rock is large you would still be able to have the aesthetic of the rock on the side of a safer staircase. Positive Aspects: - Scenic Views: The view from the main room is absolutely stunning. Unfortunately we didn’t have a view from our room, but we appreciated the beauty when using the shower or sitting on the balcony outside. - Fully Equipped: There’s plenty of glassware, crockery and cutlery to last between cleanings, which was a nice touch. - Location: It’s conveniently located near the golf course, for those that wish to play. While the property has great potential, especially with its scenic views and good location, the issues we experienced were hard to overlook. A little more attention to detail in terms of maintenance, cleaning, and the overall guest experience would go a long way. We feel the property could be more reasonably priced or offer improvements to match the cost.
