The hotel is wonderful. Every morning I was able to come outside and watch the sunrise while enjoying my morning coffee. The hotel is super clean and the staff were very pleasant whenever we interacted with them. The manager reached out also ensuring we were having a great stay. Me and my kids were able to have breakfast, lunch and dinner and were mesmerized by the beach view. We would definitely come back on our next trip.
Absolutely LOVED my stay at The Surfing Turtle in Luquillo – hands down a 5-star experience! Seriously, walking distance from La Pared beach for some awesome waves, and close to the famous Luquillo kiosks with all their delicious food right there, plus Playa Azul is super close. And if you're feeling adventurous, El Yunque rainforest is just a quick drive. They nailed the location for chilling out and exploring, no doubt about it. The room itself was just perfect – super clean, really comfy, and honestly, felt like a little slice of paradise after a day out. They even had all the good stuff like beach chairs, towels, and an umbrella, which was a total game-changer for beach days. Seriously, if you're hitting up Luquillo and want a cozy, convenient, and just all-around awesome spot, you gotta book The Surfing Turtle.
We stayed here for 3 nights, and I have mixed feelings about our stay. The communication was very good. On the first night the smoke detector was beeping for low battery but I let them know and they replaced the batteries while we were out the next day. They were also generous to leave earplugs on the bedside tables because the management is well aware of how loud the neighborhood is at night. The location was nice, I enjoyed being within waking distance of everything we wanted to do. Now for the bad parts. The shower was either too cold or too hot with no in between. The upper shower head only had sufficient pressure at one specific temperature setting, so the small portable shower head was the only functional one. The second issue was the AC. They ask that you leave the AC on to avoid humidity, which we did, but the room was too cold and dry. We both woke up with dry sinuses and sore throats every morning and it honestly hurt to breathe because of the lack of humidity. They really need a humidifier to make it comfortable. With the AC unit set to 75, it felt like about 55 at night. I do want to emphasize that the room was very clean and the amenities were nice, but the AC and shower were problematic.
