The Swan at Grasmere The Inn Collection group

Had dinner last night and tried the arancini followed by Cumberland sausage & mash, and venison shank & mash. The kitchen did forget our mains, oops, but when it came it was delicious and portions were generous. Staff were very friendly and the whole place was relaxing and great for friends and family alike.

We popped in on a whim whilst driving back to Windermere, and it was… ok. We spent nearly £90 on 4 main meals (one was a kids’ meal) and 4 drinks. The place was decorated very nicely and we had high hopes but unfortunately the food was average. The service was so quick that clearly the food had been sat under a heat light waiting to be ordered and it showed. The gravy was as watery as dishwater, and there was a chunk of plastic which looked like a zip tie in the veal (as seen in the photo). Other than that it was ok, but I think there are far better places nearby, at far better value.

Booked last minute advance payment deal b&b at £405 😳 what a joke 😃 1st room we were given was actually in the car park. The guy on reception moved us when I complained. However the room we moved to inside was a bit of an improvement (it wasn't in the car park) the water was only luke warm, hubby had to boil the kettle to shave. Website advises restaurant, there isn't one you order food at the bar, give the table number and when it's ready someone brings it to the sticky table. The staff are quite pleasant and mostly helpful but don't ask were the restaurant is. This is a pub with some sort of offering for food with ?? bedrooms. Certainly well over priced.
