The Swan at Hay Hotel

We had a 2 night stay at The Swan, very comfortable-slightly dated room and bathroom-but lovely comfy bed. Excellent position right in the centre of Hay, free parking, fabulous garden, perfect for a glass of wine after a busy day sightseeing. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, we had lunch and dinner, both meals very good. Would definitely recommend and would definitely return if we are in the area again.

We stopped for lunch, was prepared for an expensive meal but were pleasantly surprised as it was no more expensive than many other places we have visited recently. The food was delicious and nicely presented. The desert to die for! Surroundings lovely with very nice unobtrusive background music and a wonderful garden to sit in if wished. The service was second to non. Would recommend and will see you again - two local ladies from over the hill.

We have enjoyed our stay at the Swan. Location is great and is right next to the biggest book shop around. Pros❤️: Amazing restaurant and food. One of the best steaks we had in a long time. The falafel starter was incredible. We would also recommend the Prosecco sorbet ice cream. It was the best sorbet we have ever tried! Cons💔: Pillows are very very stiff and hard. Makes the fluffy pillows from Travel Lodge feel like you are sleeping on clouds. Full Welsh breakfast was cooked poorly. No black pudding and bacon and was cold and soggy to the point we were worried of finishing it. A massive far cry from their incredible dinner cooking.
