A Hidden Gem in Belmullet – The Talbot Hotel What a random — and absolutely delightful — find in the little town of Belmullet! From the moment we stepped through the door of The Talbot Hotel, we were welcomed with a beaming smile and upbeat energy from Emma, who instantly made us feel right at home. Check-in was a breeze, and Emma even helped us with our luggage — talk about going above and beyond! We managed to make it over to the bar/restaurant on our first night, and fair warning: they pour a mean Guinness! The atmosphere was lively, with locals in full swing and the owner himself behind the bar. It had that authentic Irish warmth you hope for but rarely find — and sure enough, Emma was there too, bouncing between the front desk and helping out at the bar like a true multitasking pro. On our final night, Emma gave us fantastic recommendations for our next stop in Sligo — places we never would’ve discovered on our own. That kind of genuine, personal touch is something you just don’t get at big box hotels. If we ever find ourselves passing through Belmullet again, there’s no question: The Talbot has our business. Wow. The Talbot is terrific, but the staff are absolutely amazing. Rooms are large, bed soft and comfy and, crazy as it sounds, A/C was necessary and effective. The hotel is really special. However, from the minute we walked in the door we felt special. There was no insincere hospitality. This was rich, friendly welcome. At reception, at dinner and in the morning when I wanted to watch an international rugby match, they made it happen. This was personal friendliness at another level. We are sad our stay in Belmullet was only 1 night. The Talbot has been a r3al highlight. .

Nice place to eat! Fish was very good and the desert excellent. Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere. Minus: You get few veggies with your meal. Plus: Vegan eaters have something to choose from the menu.
