I recently took my first trip to Taiwan, and I’m really glad I chose Tango Shilin as my accommodation. I love that the MRT station (Jiantan Station) is right in front of the hotel. The Shilin Night Market is approximately a 15-20 minute walk away. The location feels safe and quiet. The room itself was very cozy for a solo traveler. It was clean and well-maintained. I particularly appreciated that the bathroom was quite spacious for a room of that size (and VERY clean). Plus points for having a heated toilet seat. I would definitely recommend this hotel to first-time travelers, as the location is extremely convenient. Although it is a 3-star hotel, I do feel it deserved slightly more. My only comment is that the front desk team can be a bit cold in nature, but they are efficient so that’s all the matters to me.
Beautiful hotel and rooms. Clean, all new and very confortable. Check in is at 4 pm, so be ready for that. Regarding services, restaurant available for short period of time, breakfast starting at 7 and food wasn't ready until 7:15; food mediocre (chicken nuggets style) and more shocking was that no services provided, the waitress will tell to you clean your own plates. The hotel itself is perfect, the services are not great accordingly to the price and facilities.
We always stayed at Tango when visiting our family during summer break. The location is excellent. However we are very disappointed at the service provided at Shilin branch. The WiFi is so slow and the bathroom has no AC. The breakfast staff asked you to clean your own plates. Although I don’t mind it’s just not the standard service a 3star hotel should ask. Taiwan is famous for its fruits, but there were only bananas and grapes for breakfast and the bananas were not ripen. We tried two and both had hard cores even though they were yellow. We didn’t notice we had to push a button to open the door when leaving. The male staff just stood there saying nothing until we figured it out. All in all we were really very disappointed with our stay this time.
