When I lived in Victoria back in the 90s, this hotel would’ve been fine for those looking for a place to rest their head, and it may have been passable. That said, what a change! My wife and I were quite happy with our stay. The room was very clean and quiet. The bed was super comfortable, and the bathroom was a smaller version of what we would get at a boutique hotel in downtown Victoria. We loved the rec room, and it was nice to have Floyd’s there for breakfast in the morning (even nicer to have a 10% discount because we were staying in the hotel). We were thinking of staying down town this summer for our anniversary, but we’ll just stay here to save some money for activities instead. Thanks for the pleasant stay!
I had to write a 5 star review about Chris the Front Desk Manager. He was excellent! My family was in town for medical reasons and Chris went out of his way to accommodate us and make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. He went above and beyond what any manager has ever done before. I'll definitely stay here again just because of the excellent service Chris provided my family. The hotel is adorable, great location and the staff is always courtesy and friendly and knowledgeable. 5 stars all the way around. Thank you Chris!!!
A stay with great potential, but some details fell short. Just a 10-minute drive from downtown Victoria, this hotel offered a significant advantage for travelers with a car — about 40% more affordable than downtown options, and conveniently located in the right direction for our trip. That alone made it a strong choice. The on-site restaurant next to the lobby, filled with nostalgic touches of ABBA, The Beatles, and Marilyn Monroe, was a charming spot to enjoy a tasty breakfast. The room itself featured a large, comfortable bed, which was great — but the housekeeping left much to be desired. Hair was left on the bed, and it seemed like only the sheets had been straightened, not changed. There was a capsule coffee machine, but no complimentary water. We had to buy water from a vending machine, and the machine’s water tank was dusty and grimy, so we ended up not using it. The front desk staff were wonderfully kind and helpful — if the same level of care had been given to the room cleaning, this place would’ve easily become our go-to hotel for every Victoria trip. Instead, it left us with mixed feelings and a sense of what could have been.
