The Vine Hotel

Excellent hotel located very centrally. The roof top pool and bar are great, especially the barman Hermes. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Our bed was massive - whatever is bigger than king size. The floors in the bathrooms and some corridors and the lifts are cobbled. So not the most comfortable in bare feet. It’s a Madeiran thing.

Excellent upscale hotel in the heart of Funchal. The check in process was efficient with friendly staff. The hotel entrance is located just inside a nice modern shopping center, where you take the elevator to the reception area. The room was very modern, quiet, with tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Great water pressure in the shower too! The rooftop has an amazing view over the town and the surrounding hills/mountains. The taxi to/from the airport was about Eur20 and took around 25 minutes. The breakfast was amazing with such a great variety of foods for everyone. The hotel is surrounded by cafes and restaurants within 10 minutes walk. Even though I didn’t try, it has a nice Italian restaurant on the rooftop (closed Sundays and Mondays though). I highly recommend this hotel.

Can’t recommend this hotel enough. Central location, wonderful staff (friendly, helpful, happy), great rooms (spacious, clean, quiet), really nice rooftop infinity pool, perfect atmosphere. Locals (guides, drivers) all seemed to know this was the place to be too which says a lot. Wish we’d stayed here longer!
