This is a nice place to stay if you're looking for somewhere close to the action in the downtown area of LA. It was right around the corner from Staples Center, A nice selection of restaurants, even the Japanese village, was not too far. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The rooftop restaurant is beautiful. It was a little chilly up there, but they have the heaters going. The rooms were very clean. But small. If you're looking for a place to stay and don't intend to be in the room for much other than sleeping, I recommend the dormitory room (They're bunk beds). They are not the softest, but they get the job done. And it's cheaper. It's much much cheaper. They have a nice place to grab breakfast in the lobby. Overall, we enjoyed the stay and recommend this hotel.
I literally stayed at this hotel for 2 hours and checked out because I was so disappointed. Things I disliked: 1. When I got into my room (in July), the room was 78 degrees. 2. There was no fridge in what was labeled as a suite. 3. I searched this hotel on google and what I read said there was a rooftop pool. Apparently the pool was filled in. 4. I asked where I could get a soda and was told the only place was the rooftop bar. 5. We tried the pricey rooftop restaurant and it was definitely mediocre for the prices. Apparently they expect reservations; the description of the property makes it sound as though the rooftop is low key with snacks. Instead, the diners were dressed to the 9s. Def not low key. 6. The rooftop only overlooks air conditioners on shorter buildings. Same goes for our room window on the 12th floor. 7. The room was clean and fresh but the ceiling featured pipes that were painted over. Not quiet. 8. There’s no reason to go to downtown LA ever 9. When I returned my keys less than 2 hours after checking in, the front desk didn’t bother asking why
The staff could not cares less if you live or die tbh. Didn’t want to check us into the room type we booked. They claimed we booked a “cheap room” because we didn’t book through them. Mind you the rate was not much different from their website rate. They forced us to stick with the tiny room they said was “large” even though we booked a large room. If we wanted the room we booked, it was gonna cost us $100 more per night!!!! Also the entire weeks stay was prepaid but still they charged $100 per day for incidentals on top of a resort fee per day. We had to pay $35 a night for parking next door in a random garage with piss, garbage and graffiti everywhere. When we brought up concerns to the one the person working the front desk, she could not care less. “We’re just not gonna do it for you” was her favorites response & what we got with an eye roll to boot. Many years traveling the world and this was the Worst customer service I’ve experienced in a hotel at that price point. If it were a cheap motel, I would not have been shocked but this is supposed to be a nice hotel. It’s not. There are comparable hotels nearby that are way better & wont ruin your stay in Los Angeles. I do not recommend this hotel.
